Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation
Invests in Better Outcomes for Children

Speaking up for children who have experienced abuse or neglect has long been a priority for Kappa Alpha Theta. More than a quarter century into its partnership with CASA, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation was looking to make a significant investment in the child welfare space. When Theta Foundation learned about the opportunity to support National CASA’s new Performance Measurement Initiative, its leadership saw an opportunity. In June 2016, Theta Foundation announced a $1 million commitment to the project over three years.

More than just investors in CASA’s mission, the women of Kappa Alpha Theta serve as court-appointed volunteers, donors, staff members, board members and champions in communities nationwide. And while local impact continues to be critical, Theta Foundation wanted to scale its footprint. “We saw an opportunity to help children in foster care systemwide, not just in those cities and towns where the Fraternity has members,” said Theta Foundation President Mary Ellen Fitzsimonds. “We hope other funders will join us in investing in better outcomes for these kids.”
