Growing Stronger in Alabama
In 2016, National CASA supported the Alabama CASA Network with grants totaling $135,000 to bring new strength and impact to the state organization. Important steps forward included opening CASA of Northeast Alabama in January 2016 to serve DeKalb County, implementing a statewide database to capture real-time outcomes of children served and increasing
the number of children served by 11.4 percent since 2015.
Alabama also created a “roadshow” to take the CASA story across the state to help recruit volunteers, engage donors and build general knowledge and support of CASA programs and services. In 2016, Alabama CASA was able to secure more than $900,000 in state and private funding.
